How to Make Yourself Look Younger on Social Media

By Jessica Micmohen

Are you tired of looking older than you really are? One of the best things about social media is that you have some control over your image. And while you never want to lie, there’s nothing wrong with showing yourself in the best light!

4 Tips to Looking Younger and Healthier

When it comes to looking younger and healthier, there are dozens of levers you can pull at any given time to rejuvenate your appearance. Some are physical, while others take advantage of advances in technology. Here are a few of each:

1. Improve Your Makeup Game

Skin is known to thin and dry out as you age. This is part of the reason why fine lines and wrinkles start to emerge. One way to address this issue is by applying a primer before putting on your makeup. It works by filling in the fine lines and smoothing out your overall complexion. (Think of it as creating a blank canvas for your makeup.)

It’s also important to choose the right type of makeup. Stay away from thick foundation – which can sink into lines and wrinkles and create an uneven look – and instead use lighter products that can be applied with a sponge applicator for a smooth, well-blended appearance. (Remember – a little bit goes a long way!)

Eyebrows are another area of important focus. (It’s common for eyebrows to become thinner as you age.) You can revitalize their appearance with a simple eyebrow pencil that matches your hair color. Use it to fill in any sparse areas that contribute to an aging look.

2. Fix Your Receding Hairline

Millions of men and women suffer the ill effects of a receding hairline as they age. And while it’s not the end of the world, a receding hairline has a tendency to make you look older than you really are. And contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of ways to fight back.

One of the best ways to address a receding hairline is through a treatment known as low level laser therapy, or LLLT. Scientific studies have shown that regular use of LLLT for several months can result in thicker and healthier hair in both men and women. In fact, it only takes approximately 30 minutes per day (and can be done safely and painlessly from the convenience of your own home).

In addition to trying LLLT, you can also improve your diet and nutrition, switch up hair care products (swapping out harsh ingredients for more vitamins and nutrients), and practice smarter styling habits. (Fewer tight, harsh hairdos and more natural and relaxed styles.)

3. Enhance Lighting

Few external factors will have as big of an impact on your appearance as lighting. Poor lighting will hurt the quality of your photos and videos, while the proper lighting will ensure a warm, balanced appearance that makes you look young and vibrant.

If you’re doing a lot of live videos, you should definitely invest in some sort of ring light or kit …read more
